Bortech Underground Utility & Drilling supports submarine and marine fiber optic infrastructure projects through the coordination and management of qualified marine specialty subcontractors. We provide end-to-end oversight, permitting coordination, logistics, and documentation for work performed in rivers, canals, shallow bays, and other navigable waterways.​​​​

Submarine Fiber Handling & Placement

  • Coordinate the securing, handling, transporting, and placing of fiber optic cables in submarine environments

  • Support for work in rivers, canals, shallow bays, and other waterways

  • Capabilities extend to depths of up to approximately 300 feet

Submarine Cable Location & Recovery

  • Coordination of efforts to locate existing submarine fiber optic cables

  • Management of safe recovery of submarine cables to the surface to facilitate repair or splicing activities performed by utility-authorized technicians

Permitting, Permissions & Easements 

  • Coordination and securing of required permits, permissions, and easements

  • Interface with municipalities, state agencies, environmental regulators, waterway authorities, and property owners

  • Support for environmental compliance and navigational safety requirements

Mobilization & Emergency Response 

  • Coordination of mobilization for required personnel, equipment, and materials 

  • Support for expedited and emergency operations 

  • Scheduling and logistics management to meet accelerated response needs

Submarine Cable Removal

  • Coordination of removal of submarine fiber optic and copper cables from waterways 

  • Management of permitting, approvals, and environmental requirements

  • Oversight of environmentally responsible execution and restoration activities

As-Built Documentation & Data Capture

  • Compilation and delivery of as-built documentation for all work performed

  • GPS coordinates, cable routes, depths, splice locations, and related data

  • Documentation provided in accordance with industry-accepted utility standards
